Goodwill Lodge Updates

Hey Guys, I just wanted to send you some quick updates from the annex space as the buildout progresses. Things have been going great and so far we’ve got all the lumber and paint donated, which is amazing. I don’t have any specific questions this time, but just wanted to illustrate how the PEX extension goes through the wall and how the LED lights and sound deadening work for the artist space windows.

Furring Wall

  • Drylock

    I put three coats of drylock (white area) in this corner to seal the masonry because it seemed to let a bit of moisture through when it was really rainy.

  • PEX

    I adapted from that valve to 3/4” pex and ran it through the furring wall to the South entry.

  • Corner

    There’s one 90º fitting in the corner. The line had been pressurized with no leaks so I moved on to cover-up.

  • Sheathing

    1/2” plywood will run from the South entrance continuously to the double doors on the inside and eventually get a finished treatment, hopefully 1/4” birch if Tumalum donates it.

I figured I’d run the PEX line over by the South entrance so that we could eventually add an exterior spigot somewhere out there, or maybe a water fountain up on the deck of the ramp, which would be pretty cool.

Window Covering

  • LED Strips

    Here’s a look in the cavity between the sound deadening and the glass of the window. The LED strips run around all four edges and shine inward. They are controlled by a remote that I’ll give to each of them so they can turn them on and off as they like.

  • Exterior

    Here’s a view from the exterior as I move along with the sound deadening, which is made from recycled denim. The lights look pretty much blue, but the color can be adjusted with the remote.

  • East

    The east window all covered up.

  • West

    The west window all covered up.

From a safety perspective, here’s a little video that shows how the LED’s don’t really heat up at all. They had been on for an hour or so before I shot this.
